When the nights start drawing in, velvet makes its way back to the front of our wardrobes and Rhiannon ends up on repeat, again. We’re taking long walks through the Scottish countryside, lighting the good candles and dressing in anything with lace, big sleeves or sumptuous fabrics. Basically, the season of the witch is officially here. And if you’ve been around Little Lies for a while, you’ll know this is a season we take very seriously.

This year, with Practical Magic 2 finally arriving, we’ve found ourselves thinking a lot about the little ways we bring magic into everyday life - the tiny rituals that make an ordinary day feel special.

Lighting your favourite cinnamon candle when you get home. Putting an album on and actually listening to it from beginning to end. Wearing the velvet dress on a completely unremarkable Tuesday. Taking the long way home because the trees look particularly beautiful. Pouring a large glass of red and making dinner feel like an occasion. There’s something inherently feminine about romanticising our every day lives, and we don't think those little things are trivial.

Women have always found ways to create ritual, beauty, comfort and meaning in the everyday. To make spaces our own, dress in ways that communicate something about who we are, gather together, tell stories, listen to music and find joy in small things.
Spellbound is our love letter to that.

We’re incredibly lucky to call Scotland our home, and as we began thinking about how we wanted to present Spellbound, it was impossible not to draw from what was right outside our door. The Scottish landscape of ancient woodland, tangled branches, huge open spaces and our perfect colour palette fit so naturally with this collection. So, rather than creating a world for Spellbound, we took the collection out into the one that inspired it. Against that wild, organic backdrop - literally within walking distance from our office in the Scottish countryside - the velvet, lace, fringe and exaggerated silhouettes looked right at home.

It’s romantic yet not polished, feminine without being too delicate. A little wild, a little whimsical and very Little Lies.

When we started developing Spellbound, we knew we wanted the clothes to capture that same essence. This time of year naturally has us craving richer, more opulent textures so crushed velvet, sheer lace, satin, fringe and all the drama of a really good sleeve took centre stage in deep, dark colours alongside romantic, fluid silhouettes.

We’ve created garments that feel special, but never so precious that you're waiting for an occasion to wear them. Because as much as we love the drama, comfort matters more. We want you to be able to luxuriate in velvet without feeling like you've dressed for a period drama. To throw something beautiful on, but feel completely yourself in it and get on with your life.

Spellbound lets you find a little bit of magic in getting dressed, even when you're only going for a wander down the wine aisle.

Music always provides the backdrop to the beginning of a Little Lies collection, but it’s especially key for this one. Stevie, obviously. Florence. Lana. Taylor’s Folklore and Evermore eras. They’re the women whose music finds words for feelings you couldn’t articulate yourself. Putting the right song on at the right moment that can completely change the way the world around you feels. It’s our kinda soul food, and we’ve had plenty of it playing at Little Lies HQ while bringing this collection together.
We’ve made a playlist of the songs that have soundtracked Spellbound; the tunes that have been on repeat in the office, played during shoots and have fed into the world we were creating.

There’s a confidence that comes from knowing what you love and allowing yourself to fully embrace it. Not because it’s fashionable or because somebody else has decided it's cool, and definitely not because you're dressing for anyone else's approval. The idea of embracing your true self is a huge part of Little Lies’ ethos as a whole, and it was a key part of building this collection.

For us, feminine energy isn't about fitting into one particular idea of femininity - it's the freedom to decide what that means for you. To understand yourself, own the things that make you feel most like you and express them without worrying about how they might be perceived.

Maybe that looks like velvet and lace, maybe it’s an enormous pair of flares and a band tee, maybe it's a fringed kimono to go to the supermarket - the specifics don't really matter. The freedom of authentic self-expression has always been at the heart of Little Lies, and Spellbound is no exception.

More than anything, Spellbound is about giving yourself permission to lean into the things that bring you joy. Wear the dramatic dress. Light the candle. Pour the wine. Put Stevie on far too loud. Go for the woodland walk. Romanticise the completely ordinary bits of your life.

There is power in knowing what you love and choosing it consistently.

And if that happens to involve a lot of velvet, lace and enormous sleeves? Even better.
